Melissa Castaneda, a jewelry designer and silversmith, was born in Guadalajara, Mexico in 1978. Coming from a family that created jewelry, she has been following the family tradition . She grew up with tools and silver in her house, so making jewelry just comes natural for her. She gets her inspiration from her love of nature and in the four elements – earth, fire, water and wind.
“What I look for when I am creating a piece is the flow. My goal is to have the perfect movement and softness within the lines- an authentic flow to it. The best time when designing is the moment I get to “fuse” the lines with the rest, in harmony… as nature should be.”
My grandfather started designing and making jewelry since he was a kid. At the age of 13 he had already a group of people working for him in his rustic atelier. His dream was to teach his vast know how to all of us, his grand kids. Up to now, some of us follow on his steps with one thing in common... love and passion for our work.
"Thank you abuelo for all your perseverance in teaching me this beautiful art!"
